Making An Impact

Young Life Leaders make it a priority to "go where the kids are" and who up time and time again. They show up at games, practices, dances, plays, performances, and lunches to make it known that they care.
  • Are you pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ?
  • Want to join a community of volunteers meeting kids where they are?
  • Enjoy crazy and wild activities?
  • Love high school kids and their honest questions about life?

Greensboro Young Life is active in various high schools in the area. Young Life is making a difference in kids' lives. Here's an example of how Young Life can reach kids: John regularly attends basketball practice at the high school where he is a Young Life leader. At first, John did not know the young men on the basketball team, but after weeks of watching practice he began to get to know who they were and exchanged a few short conversations with some of the players. One day, one of the players approached John. "You come to watch us practice a lot don't you?" the young man asked John. "Yes, I do," John said. "That's cool," the young man said, "No one does that."

If you are interested in becoming a leader, contact David Page at the Greensboro Young Life office for more information on orientation and training sessions.

Ways You Can Help Young Life in Greensboro

Young Life Leaders go with students to camps where they build on the relationships they've formed throughout the year. Camps are incredible places for students to see God in new and exciting ways and have deep, meaningful conversations.
1.  Become a Volunteer Leader - Volunteer leaders work directly with high school students, building friendships with them and sharing their lives.  Our Young Life leaders work with high school students, and our WyldLife leaders work with middle school.

2.  Become a Committee Member - The Adult Committee helps behind the scenes to ensure a high quality of ministry.  The Committee's roles include publicity, prayer, fundraising, event planning, and much more.  We are also hoping to form subcommittees around each of the main responsibilities of the committee.

3.  Pray for Young Life - We believe that the work of Young Life begins and ends with prayer.  We need dedicated people praying for us every day.

4.  Support Young Life financially - It costs money to accomplish all of our goals.  Your financial gifts help us meet our budget, which includes items such as camp scholarship, club and activity expenses, office supplies, leader training, and more.  You can learn more about our budget and our needs by contacting our office.

5.  Serve on the Golf or Banquet Committee - our 2 largest community events are the Golf Marathon and our Celebration Banquet.  We need some organized and creative people to make these events spectacular - contact our office to find out more.

6.  Friends of Young Life - These volunteers help out with special projects like registration at the Golf Tournament or preparing meals for leaders.  If you want to help, but can only give small chunks of time at once, this is a good place for you.  Call or e-mail the office to let us know you want to be a "Friend of Young Life."

7.  Volunteer Administrative Work - Help us do administrative work in the office.  We can always use help with mailings, data entry, and other office tasks.  Call or e-mail the office to let us know you want to help in this way.
